Installing Icons (stored in ICL or DLL icon library format) in Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP

- Right click the Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP shortcut file whose icon you want to change.
- Select properties from the drop down menu.
- Select "Shortcut" tab
- Select "Change Icon" button.
- IMPORTANT! - Set the "Change Icon" dialog to show all files by setting "Files of Type" drop-menu to "All Files"
- Select "Browse", choose the ICL (or DLL) file which contains the icons and open it. Now you can view the contents of the icon library.
- Double click the icon you want, select "Apply" from the properties menu.
- In our Tools links page you will find links to nifty freeware/shareware utilities that can further help you view/store/install .ICL icons. Some of these utilities can be particularly useful in that they help to install icons onto files that ordinarly can't have their icons easily changed.

Installing Desktop Patterns in Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP

- From the Start menu, choose Settings, then Control Panel
- Double Click on Display to open the display options.
- Select the Background tab.
- Click the Browse button in the Wallpaper section (lower right), and locate the new Bitmap file you wish to use for your background.
- Select the Tile option in the Wallpaper section.
- Click the "OK" button to save your new settings.

Installing Desktop Pictures on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP

- Unzip the Desktop Picture archive.
- From the Start menu, choose Settings, then Control Panel
- Double Click on Display to open the display options.
- Select the Background tab.
- Click the Browse button in the Wallpaper section (lower right), and locate the new Bitmap file you wish to use for your background.
- Select the center option in the Wallpaper section.
- Click the "OK" button to save your new settings.

Installing Fonts on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP

- In the Windows folder, double-click the Fonts folder.
- On the File menu, click Install New Font..
- Click the drive and folder that contain the fonts you want to add.
- Double-click the icon for the font you want to add.

Installing Icons in Windows 3.1

- In Program Manager, select the icon you want to replace.
- From the File menu, choose "Properties".
- In the Program Item Properties dialog box, choose the "Change Icon" button.
- In the Change Icons dialog box, choose the "Browse" button.
- In the Open dialog box, choose the DLL file and choose the "OK" button.
- When the icon you want to use is selected, choose the "OK" button.
- In the Program Item Properties dialog box, choose the "OK" button.

Installing Desktop Patterns in Windows 3.1

- Unzip the Desktop Patterns archive.
- Copy the BMP file(s) into your "Windows" directory (located in your C drive)
- Start Windows and open the Main group window in Program Manager.
- Double click the Control Panel icon.
- Double click on the Desktop icon.
- Scroll through the Wallpaper pop-up file list (lower left) until you find the name of the file(s) you just copied.
- Select the wallpaper file you want to use.
- Use the Tile option to position the wallpaper on your screen.
- Click "OK".

Installing True Type Fonts on Windows 3.1

- Start Windows and open the Main group window in Program Manager.
- Double click the Control Panel icon.
- Double click Fonts.
- Click the True Type button.
- Make sure that the "Enable True Type Font" box is checked.
- Click OK.
- Click the Add button.
- Locate the folder where the True Type fonts are stored.
- Select the font you want to install (if you wish to install more than one font, you can click on several fonts while holding down the Ctrl. key), then click OK.
- Click the Close button.
